Practice Focus
Mr. Acin represents executives and entrepreneurs, as well as their families and businesses, in resolving legal issues that touch all areas of their professional and personal lives. Whether the matter concerns divorce and custody disputes, or disputes over contract issues or collection of debts and judgments, through corporate governance or shareholder disputes, or employment law matters, Mr. Acin is able to assist clients with navigating these complex matters in advance of and during contested court proceedings. While Mr. Acin prefers to resolve matters in an amicable and expeditious manner without exposing clients to the uncertainty of litigation, he understands that the desired outcome is not always attainable without court action, in which case, Mr. Acin will zealously fight and advocate for his clients.
In addition to complex commercial litigation and family law, Mr. Acin also has extensive experience in criminal defense. Furthermore, Mr. Acin regularly advises clients (both employers and individuals) in U.S. immigration law (both employer and family-based immigration applications). Mr. Acin has represented clients before several United States agencies and tribunals regarding U.S. immigration law and proceedings, including: preparation and prosecution of applications and at interviews before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (“USCIS”), the U.S. Department of State (and its consulates), the USCIS Asylum Office, the USCIS Administrative Appeals Office, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and in Immigration Courts throughout the United States.
Previous Experience
Prior to joining Kramer Elias, Mr. Acin was an attorney at a regional law firm where he practiced within the commercial, construction and real estate litigation, immigration, criminal, business transactions and bankruptcy law practice groups.
Mr. Acin received his J.D. degree from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America. At the Columbus School of Law, Mr. Acin also earned a Certificate from the Comparative and International Law Institute and was a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution team, with whom he qualified for, and represented the Columbus School of Law at the 2006 and 2007 American Bar Association Regional Negotiations Competitions. Mr. Acin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Sciences and Technology from the Pennsylvania State University, where he also minored in Business Logistics. Prior to commencing his legal career, Mr. Acin worked in the information technology industry as a defense contractor in Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area.
